Climate Change Project

What is Climate Change?

Climate change is the changing of specific ecosystems. Climate change is not necessarily a new thing it has been happening since the beginning of time but the thing that is damaging our ecosystem is the acceleration of climate change. Recently the changing of our climate has increased to a rate where animals can no longer adapt to these changes fast enough.

Growths and strengths.

One of my greatest growths throughout this project was in my design knowledge and ability. We were tasked to take information about colorado's pack and put this into an engaging infographic to accurately depict the information. One specific strength that I had while doing this project was simplifying the research that I did to put them onto an infographic in the simplest way possible while still conveying the information needed.

My Project

My project was on the local impacts of climate change. I felt as if it was more impactful to look at climate change locally because you can see the effects first hand. We did research on colorado’s snowpack to learn about the ways it has changed over the years. I also went further into learning about how the drought in montezuma country has had an impact on the agriculture in that area.

Why Should we Care?

Due to spices not being able to adapt fast enough this is causing problems. One of the ways climate change is becoming a problem locally is with the snow patterns. The snowpack throughout the last 50 years has becease un consistent shifting average snowfall numbers and becoming less predictable. When the snow has fallen and spring comes around the snow ends up melting faster than it should. When the snow melts this fast it causes plants to bloom at once and to grow earlier. When the plants grow earlier animals come out of hibernation to eat these plants earlier as well. Once all the sustainable food sources are gone animals are left with little to nothing to eat in the months of september and october.

In the adolescent project for biology we dove into the teenage brain and how it develops throughout these years. We also learned about how drugs and alcohol can affect the brain and make a lasting impact on the developing brain. Making mistakes and learning from them is part of adolescents and we grow out of that and grow our impulsive decision making as we get older. The adolescent brain and behavior is very interesting and these years are very influential to the rest of our lives.

My biggest challenge during this project was finding a topic for my infographic that I was engaged and interested in. I ended up looking into how music affects the teenage brain. This topic was interesting to me because I listen to a lot of music and I have noticed it has defined who I am and how I act. It was difficult finding this topic but when i did find it I found it easy to dive deep into the content.

While it was difficult to find an engaging topic I also felt proud of my topic whence I found it. I felt like I could relate to my topic of how music affects the teenage brain. Not only could I relate to my topic anyone that listens to music could relate to my topic. This made me feel good and I believe this is something I am most proud of with in this project.

If I could change anything about my project I would spend more time on the infographic part of it. I struggled finding engaging ways to put my information down. I would go back and think deeper on how to creatively show im information. My infographic lacks in engaging ways to show deep information. I also wish I had put more information on my infographic instead of just 2 or 3 important facts.
