what unit was your favorite?

My favorite unit in math class this year was probably the "do bees build it best?" this was interesting to me because I got to see the real world applications of geometry.  I found it interesting looking at tessellations. Tessellations are shapes that fit together with no space in between corners and sides. We discovered that this is why bees build their hives in hexagons. The hexagon can store a large amount of honey, and because the shape tessellates, it can store even more honey when built together into a honeycomb shape.

what unit did you learn the most from?

I gained the most knowledge out of the most recent unit in math the "Pit and the Pendulum" this unit has taught me a ton of valuable information about normal curves. Although this was not the only thing, we worked on in the unit. We also worked on curve fitting and using our calculators. We worked on pendulums as well. We tested some of the variables that can affect the length of the period. We measured and put our data into a data set and predicted how long it would take to swing back and forth 12 times. My class ended up predicted the amount it would take most accurately.

what piece of work was your favorite?

The piece of work that was my favorite would have to be the extra credit pow that Jai and I did. for this unit Jai and I made a short video of our proses of finding the angle of the hill outside of the classroom. For this, we simply recorded the proses of fining the angle and then editing that into a short video to show the class. This was my favorite because I have enjoyment in filming and editing stuff and to be able to take that and put that into math class formed a personal connection to the unit.
